CTO Co-Founder

YourLUME, a seed stage Portland internet startup with a focus on the outdoor marketplace is looking for a CTO Co-Founder that could come in take a strategic leadership role and use your skills with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related technologies to create the foundation for the next generation online shopping experience.

Founded and advised by a number of ex-Nike executives, industry leaders and driven by design, this is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor while helping to grow, build and influence a brands direction.
As this position is with a startup, early compensation will be in the form of equity with a full-time salary and benefits tied into funding milestones.  We would not ask you to do anything that we are not doing ourselves.  Being located in Portland, we would prefer someone who would be local, but talent is key and would consider remote candidates.

The work you do at YourLUME will leverage your experience in design and technology as you create sophisticated HTML pages in concert with content management and ecommerce systems. Keys to your success at YourLUME include:
• HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. You can implement complex interactive HTML sites in a scalable and modular way, with great attention to visual detail. You are comfortable using JavaScript libraries like jQuery and Prototype.
• Coding Fundamentals. We’ll look to you for code that’s well documented, clearly formatted, efficient, runs quickly, and is easy to understand and maintain.
• Collaboration. You enjoy collaborating with founders, visual designers, and business users to dream up creative technical solutions to challenging problems. Iteratively prototyping these concepts helps you optimize them quickly.
• Server Development. You are familiar with the Apache web server, and with server programming languages like php and Java. You can integrate your client code into templates written in a server language. You know how to use version control systems, and can connect to a remote Linux server using ssh.
• Leadership.  Not only would you be part of the inner team, but your responsibilities would building and staffing a talent pull that would bring in the best creative minds.
• Learning. You are capable of and interested in learning new technologies, independently and at a fast pace. You thrive on expanding your technical horizons. Likely learning opportunities include Adobe Flash and Flex, php, object oriented analysis and design techniques like UML, ecommerce platforms, and content management systems.
• Focus on Profitability. We have deadlines. While your craft is an art, the successful candidate can build ambitious software systems while working against the calendar, which means you can schedule work and estimate the time to complete your deliverables.

Web Content/SEO Internship

YourLUME is a young Portland startup focusing on the building a outdoor gathering point for consumers to share their adventures, connect with local non-profits and purchase the latest gear.

We’re seeking a Web Content/SEO intern to join our marketing team that is scattered throughout of Portland, Oregon area. 

The Web Content/SEO intern is responsible for assisting yourLUME’s marketing team with developing relevant and effective content and SEO strategies throughout yourLUME.com.  This is an unpaid Winter internship requiring a 16 -24 hour/week commitment.  The schedule and length of internship is flexible as well as the location.


Responsibilities Include:

• Assisting with Search Engine Optimization (SEO), including developing keyword lists, as well as creating content on the websites and affiliated networks
• Assisting the web content team with executing new SEO strategies and seasonal content updates
• Using data and effective marketing sense to make relevant product recommendations on product pages
• Becoming familiar with search engine rankings and best practices for improving natural search traffic
• Writing product descriptions and other web content, gathering new key words and assisting with key word discovery
• Analyzing the competitive marketplace, including monitoring competitor websites and promotions to recommend areas yourLUME.com can improve upon
• Taking vendor provided product information to develop engaging and informative landing pages for yourLUME.com.


Internship Requirements:

The web content/SEO intern must be organized and detail oriented.  Must also have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical and problem solving skills, and be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, team environment, striking the appropriate balance between working independently and keeping supervisor informed.

The web content/SEO intern should also enjoy writing and must have super exceptional writing skills.

The web content/SEO intern must be able to perform multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities, must be proficient in MS Excel and have efficient writing skills.  Experience with Photoshop, HTML and other web development coding, as well as Google Adwords, web analytics terminology, capabilities and reporting is preferred, but not required.

Social Media Intern Description

Intern will support yourLUME’s social media efforts through research and execution of the latest social media trends.

Responsibilities:

•  Monitor all yourLUME’s social networks, incl Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Flickr
•  Build online programs to increase participation in yourLUME’s submit a adventure
•  Work with our Director of Marketing to drive an online awareness of shareLUME’s nonprofit outreach.
•  Maintain inquiries and requests across all yourLUME’s social networks while also building a connection with the online outdoor community (sharing, re-tweets, etc.)
•  Share news brands, events, non-profit partnerships, and stories on a regular basis with a creative and authentic approach
•  Support yourLUME’s online PR outreach by researching interesting and relevant blogs (post one blog per week)
•  Research latest social media trends
•  Develop creative ideas for future campaigns
•  Analyze and track yourLUME’s social media outreach to determine optimized strategies


Online Events Aspect:
•  Research local and national events that take place in the West Coast Region.
•  Connect with bloggers and build our social media and website to become a resource for new adventures and events
•  Maintain Google Calendar in conjunction with AdventureLUME Blogging Site
