YourLUME – Adventure Writers, Share a Story

Portland, Oregon, June 15, 2011 – YourLUME, the Portland-based online retailer dedicated to supporting outdoor causes, announces their Summer Stories Program. In an effort to create the largest accumulation of travel and adventure stories, YourLUME is offering writers, photographers, journalists, travelers and adventure seekers of all types the opportunity to share their stories with a community of avid adventurers.

Outdoor experiences, and the stories that come with them, are emotionally rewarding. And now they can be financially rewarding too with yourLUME’s Summer Stories Program.

“We are pretty proud of our community’s collection, but with summer in full swing we know that people are out paddling, riding, trekking summiting and spelunking. And we’d like to offer them a reason to share their stories with others” said Andrew Estey, Co-Founder and CEO of yourLUME,

To that end, contributors who submit and have their story posted on the site will be given a 10% off-coupon that they can use themselves, give to a friend or donate to an organization toward the purchase of merchandise on the site. YourLUME is also working with their partner brands to provide other giveaways and prizes throughout the summer.

“We’re hoping that through these stories, we’ll inspire others to get out and do something they’ve always wanted to try. Not to mention give something back to those who’ve shared their experiences,” said Sandy Ragnetti, Marketing and Business Development Manager.

YourLUME is also accepting submissions of outdoor instruction and product videos, stories and reviews. They are also eligible for the 10% discount program and will be highlighted on yourLUME’s site.

YourLUME and its customers provide support to Japan

Portland, Oregon, April 11, 2011 – YourLUME, the Portland-based online retailer dedicated to supporting outdoor causes, announces their 30-Days-of-Giving campaign. From April 6 through May 5, yourLUME will be donating 100% of their proceeds, up to $10,000, to aid Mercy Corpsʼ relief efforts for the victims in Japan.

“Iʼve spent a lot of time in Japan and canʼt even imagine the devastation that they are currently enduring,” said Andrew Estey, Co-Founder and CEO of yourLUME. “The people Iʼve met during my travels in Japan have always been kind and generous. I only hope that we can provide some assistance to them as they begin to rebuild.”

Mercy Corps’ number one priority right now is to fill the immediate need for basics – which include shelter, food and clean water. As well as, helping those coping with the emotional effects of the devastation. In the longer term, they will help earthquake-affected families and communities rebuild.

“Portland has a strong connection to Japan, and when we saw the devastation unfolding from the tsunami, we knew we wanted to help – we just didnʼt know how. But after talking to Mercy Corps we knew the most important resource – and the most effective and efficient one to get to Japan – was monetary support,” said Sandy Ragnetti, Marketing and Business Development Director at yourLUME.

Purchases to support the relief fund can be made at yourLUME.

YourLUME gets a finer education in the great outdoors

Portland, Oregon, March 22, 2011 – YourLUME, the Portland based online retailer dedicated to supporting outdoor causes, announces partnerships with Nevada Outdoor School (NOS) and Montana Outdoor Science School (MOSS).

These organizations support the new and ever-growing research that shows a direct correlation between exposure to nature and childrenʼs improved physical and emotional health. Sometime this means taking a group out on a hike to research ponds, streams or underneath rocks. Other times itʼs bringing the outdoors in with school programs.

“Itʼs always great to see kids discover more about their surroundings and themselves in the process” said Steve Eshbaugh, Executive Director of Montana Outdoor Science School.

Programs like the ones offered by NOS and MOSS are critical to communities. They offer a place where learning becomes a real life adventure. Classes for the students include academic activities such as geology, orientation, astronomy, and hiking. Students are able to come face-to-face with live animals such as snakes, turtles, salamanders, owls, hawks and many others. And in addition to the academics, itʼs a time for growth. A time for students to meet personal challenges, learn to work together and develop trust in others.

YourLUME…in the great outdoors “I am very excited about the opportunity to showcase Nevada Outdoor School’s programming to the diverse group of outdoor enthusiasts who are coming together at yourLUME,” said Andy Hart, Executive Director of the Nevada Outdoor School. “Inspiring people to be outdoors for the betterment of themselves and their communities is at the core of our mission which fits nicely with the aspirations of the great people who have created this new online resource.”

YourLUMEʼs non-profit partnership program, shareLUME, currently works with eight non-profit partners. The organizations that have partners with yourLUME share their mission to protect and revitalize the environment as well as educate individuals in reducing their impact on the earth. “We are fortunate to be working with NOS and MOSS, as well as our other non-profit partners. We look forward to supporting the great work theyʼre doing and continue searching for other organizations that share our mission” said Sandy Ragnetti, Marketing and Business Development Director for yourLUME.

GoLite partners with yourLUME to launch new outdoor ecommerce destination

Aug 10, 2010 – Portland, OR – August 10, 2010 — YourLUME, a Portland based company forging a new way of doing business in the $730 billion dollar outdoor marketplace, has created a new direct-to-consumer online marketplace. One that builds community, creates a closer consumer connection and establishes an alternative sustainable distribution model with a focus on reducing their carbon footprint.

Started in March 2010 when former END Footwear founder Andrew Estey began to notice that the outdoor marketplace was struggling to define their focus and build a bond within the online community that helped pioneer the outdoor lifestyle. “YourLUME strengthens that bond with a simple idea: build a community of active, adventure-seeking individuals, create a forum where they can share their outdoor adventures and directly connect them with the brands they love and the gear they use.”  Andrew continues, “Visit yourLUME.com and join in the conversation—upload your adventure story, check in with your favorite brand and keep coming back to build a vibrant community with us.”

GoLite is one of the first brand partners to be showcased in our ecommerce area and will be soon followed by a select list of leading outdoor brands. “We are very pleased to partner with GoLite, a true outdoor brand that has a strong authentic focus around the athlete and is a company that cares about the environment,” commented Andrew Estey.

Each brand is provided with an online “tent” to highlight their products, directly engage in dialogue with consumers and tell focused seasonal brand stories through videos, images and text. These tents allow brands to directly connect with their consumers makes yourLUME a great vehicle to test, rotate and launch new products in the marketplace as it relates to product trends.

“We are very excited to partner with yourLUME on this new venture, commented Kevin Volz,  GoLite North American Sales Manager. We look forward to growing our brand, connecting with consumers and partnering with a company that shares our core values.”

We encourage consumers and brands to share adventures and their questions and answers with a community of friends and followers. This is our mission, these are Your stories. Your gear. Your life. YourLUME.
