Thank you for wanting to learn more about me, the charitable work I do, and my surfing. I live a lifestyle of helping others by pawing it forward, while raising awareness and funds for human/animal causes. My focus is on assisting the disabled community, and other causes in a non traditional SURFice dog kind of way! I have raised over $50,000 in an 11 month period, and I'm ready to raise more!
My SURFice dog initiatives are part of my alma mater, Puppy Prodigies, a 501(c)3 non profit organization that focuses on early puppy development, and service dog training for people with disabilities. I'm probably best known for my inspirational video, "From Service Dog to SURFice dog". It went viral, and touched the lives of millions of people all over the world. Since it's gotten so much exposure, I immediately turned it into a platform to help others on a larger scale by re-directing the attention to additional human and animal causes. I also try to inspire people to allow themselves and others to be who they truly are... without judgment or intention to change. To focus on what they CAN do, which allows for a celebration of amazing outcomes!
I'm a specially trained dog, and started learning the day I was born! I have the temperament, and advanced training of a service dog. But, because I enjoy chasing critters, I couldn't be a traditional service dog. So Puppy Prodigies coined the name SURFice dog(sm) especially for me, and it even came with a service mark! Because I'm a pretty good surfer, and enjoy working with the adaptive surfing community... the name really fits. I like it because it really describes what I do with one word. SURFice!! I'm also a canine good citizen, and a certified goal directed therapy dog through Pawsitive Teams, and a registered animal assisted activities therapy dog with Therapy Dogs Incorporated. My mom is a certified professional dog trainer, and we work closely with our causes to customize protocols for my SURFice dog work.
I surf for fun, and win contests too. My best win was at the 2010 Loews Surf Dog Competition where I won 1st place in the tandem division with my littermate, Kalani. At the 2009 Helen Woodward Surf dog Surf-a-thon, I came in 2nd overall. I won 3rd place in the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge in 2009 and 2010. I've won several other surf dog contests, and have been awarded several top fundraiser awards, a couple top dog awards, and the prestigious AKC Award for Canine Excellence.
