Colman Glacier on Mount Baker

We arrived at the Heliotrope Ridge Trailhead some time after 10pm, and made the early morning start up the trail. It was skis on after a relatively short hike and the skin up Heliotrope Ridge and past Colfax Peak and was quick and smooth. We decided to abondon the attempt for the Summit around 9,400ft, as clouds were moving in and the snow was rock solid. Once below 9,000ft, the snow was soft and the skiing was excellent. We decided to do another lap, and made our way towards the ridge next to Thunder Glacier for some more great turns. Ended up back at the car around 1pm, not bad for some June skiing…
