Trip of a Lifetime
Before I had ever heard the term “bucket list” I had studied the Law of Attraction from the book “The Secret” and I had such clear ideas of what I needed in my life. I needed to have a passion that I combined with a goal. I had always enjoyed taking photographs, but it was an intense desire to photograph my travels. Here’s the challenge…I hate to fly! So added to my list was to get over my fear of flight.
Easier said than done.
You know the old adage “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. Well I did just that. The company I had worked for, for many years went bankrupt. When the vice president went office to office giving everyone their walking papers I heard crying and extreme sadness. When it was my turn I gave the vice president a hug and said “Great I now can pursue my dreams! I am going to Italy!”
Ok, so maybe 5 minutes later I had a tinge of “oh geez, what now??” But that did not get me down.
I immediately called my husband at work and said can you get a month off work? I began researching tours through Europe and 20 days later we were off for the experience of a lifetime! But not before I took an amazing photography course from my cousin who is a professional and a trip to the local camera store to get some supplies.
In May of 2009 we were off to visit 11 countries in 29 days and low and behold we hit Italy! It was everything I had ever dreamed of and more!! There we were standing in the middle of the Coliseum, at the pillars of the Pantheon, on a gondola floating down the canals of Venice. Amazing!
The architecture was breath taking and more beautiful than I could have imagined. We even went to places I never knew existed, like the island of Burano. I could not stop taking pictures of these exotic places that I never thought I would go to. It’s awesome now to look back on my photos and to relive our adventure.
